Green Giant Arborvitae has recently come about as a new privacy tree that is resistant to deer damage unlike its relative the Emerald Green variety. 

 

It is drought tolerant and does not require constant trimming. 

 

Green Giants are a type of Cypress tree. They grow very quickly and very tall. They can withstand heavy wind, rain and snow. 

 

In periods of extreme drought; even established Green Giants will need additional supply of water to sutain its life source, otherwise they are mostly drought tolerant once established.

 

The first 2-3 months upon planting they will need plenty of water; about 10 gallon per size of root ball a week. Initially; watering in thoroughly until saturated and burlap is soaked, then 1 gallon per day for the first 2-3 months. 

 

Mulch helps to retain moisture but be sure not to add too much.
